Audio & accessibility

Tune the music, test the effects and make the cabinet comfortable.

Music for the night shift#

PONGIT plays Last Stop in full and loops it. Music by Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio. The credit also appears in the application and follows the artist's usage conditions.

Choose Enter arcade or Enter muted on your first visit. In Arcade settings, music defaults to 20% and effects to 60%; saved values take precedence. The music continues between game screens, ducks during play and jingles, and pauses in a hidden tab.

Test the sound#

Use Test sound to activate or resume the browser's audio context. Settings distinguish enabled, muted, suspended, loading and failed states. The browser may require a click or key press before allowing sound.

If the test reports a generated signal but you hear nothing, check the tab's mute state, system volume, output device and headphones. A signal measurement cannot verify the physical speaker you are using. Check effects volume separately from music volume.

Button actions, invitations, matching, countdowns, rebounds, points, handicap changes and outcomes have distinct effects. Points and results follow confirmation; reconnecting should not replay a backlog of sounds.

Room and motion#

Under Room appearance, toggle Background effects or choose Subtle / Full arcade. The room remains a static illustration. With effects enabled, small 16-bit decorations on the cabinet play short, staggered animations with quiet pauses between loops, including during matches. They never enter the court or make sounds.

Turning effects off leaves those decorations still. They also stop when outside the viewport or when the tab is hidden. Your device's reduced-motion preference displays a fixed frame. Documentation ornaments always stay still.

PONGIT follows your device's reduced-motion preference. Result sequences can be skipped immediately; after skipping, the result actions remain accessible. Their foreground can scroll while the page behind is locked.

Keyboard and touch#

Paddle shortcuts work only in a controllable match. Dialogs contain keyboard focus, close with Escape when their action allows it, and return focus afterward. Opening an overlay or losing focus releases held controls. The touch arrows support holding and releasing, including pointer cancellation.

Documentation has its own quiet reading view and does not start the arcade's audio.
